BEHIND THE LENS

Hello & Welcome!

My name is Maria Fotiadou and I am from Greece. I mainly work in the field of Positive Psychology and Health. Photography is one of my hobbies. I simply love it.

I came back to Thessaloniki, my city, 3+ years ago after living in England for about a decade. This was one challenging and changing period of my life. Coming back to my country near the beginning of the economic crisis added more to my adjustment. I had to take my Psychology practice and knowledge into my everyday life more than ever. Life can be strange sometimes but we have 2 choices: to either cry over our pain or take it and play with it! As The Smiths sing "There is a Light that Never goes out"... well, I started from there.

We use Photography in Positive Psychology Coaching Programmes, as a creative and self-expression technique, bringing new knowledge for the individual, his/her feelings, passions, thoughts and personal charismata.

Photography always made me feel good and creative. I have my camera with me everywhere I go. I capture things I like and find beautiful, anything that makes me feel great! Here, I share with you some of my pictures. It's amazing how you can look at the same things and see something new every day. They say that anywhere you go try to keep the feeling of a tourist that sees everything for the very first time. The images have been taken in Salonica, in other places I have been (some a bit older than 4 years) and in California that I fell in love with and I'm looking forward to going back.

I have never taken any photography classes and I am not a prof. photographer. But that doesn't change the creativity spirit. My latest camera is a Nikon Coolpix P500 that my brother Panos gave me as a gift, and I am more than thankful! Cheers to my photography buddies, as well!

Thank you very much for visiting my photography site! I hope you enjoy it!
